Євангеліє про виноградник є важливим читанням для нас і нашої Церкви, тому що воно нам дає опис цілої історії спасіння у формі короткого оповідання.  Господь наш Ісус Христос бажає того, щоб робити план Божий легшим для нашого розуміння.  Отже, тисячі років людської історії стали ділами кількох місяців.  Структура цього оповідання є простою: виноградник є сотвореним; господар виноградника дає його орендарям; орендарі повстають проти господаря і відмовляються від його права. Отже, господар посилає їм офіціантів, щоб зібрати оренду, але орендарі убивають тих офіціантів. Накінець, господар вирі́шує посилати його сина і спадкоємця...

The Gospel about the vineyard is an important reading for us and our Church, because it gives to us a description of the whole history of salvation in the form of a short story.  Our Lord Jesus Christ desires to make the plan of God easy for us to understand.  Therefore, thousands of years of human history become the deeds of a few months. The structure of this story is simple: a vineyard is created; the owner of the vineyard gives it to tenants; the tenants rebel against the owner and deny him his rights. Therefore, the owner sends officials to them, in order to gather the rent, but the tenants kill these officials. Finally, the owner decides to send his son and heir…

Проста історія нам показує резюме оповідання людського роду.  Господь Бог сотворив Його створіння і дав його в руки наших предків, але вони повстали проти Нього, чинячи гріх і заслуговуючи смерть. Тож, Господь Бог посилав пророків, щоб керувати нами назад до шляху спасіння через слухняність і любов до Бога. Але, ці представники Бога Живого були зловживаними і часто вбитими, аж до часу, коли Бог послав Його Сина Єдинородного. У Його втіленні, Він брав нашу природу, з’єднуючи цю природу з божественною природою у спілкуванні Його Особи. Тож, стаючи досконалою, слухняною людиною, Він заробив прощення наших гріхів через Його жертву на хресті, і тоді Він нам дав шлях до присвоєння у безкінцевому житті Царства Божого, воскресіння мертвих. 

The simple story shows us a summary of the history of the human race.  The Lord God created His Creation and gave it into the hands of our forefathers, but they rebelled against him, committing sin and deserving death. So, the Lord God sent the prophets to guide us back to the way of salvation through obedience and love for God.  But, these representatives of God were abused and often killed, until God sent His Only-Begotten Son. In His Incarnation, He took our nature, uniting this nature with the Divine Nature in the communion of His Person. So, becoming a perfect, obedient man, He earned forgiveness of our sins through His sacrifice on the Cross, and then gave us a way to participate in the unending life of the Kingdom of God, the resurrection of the dead.

Це є історією всіх нас разом як громади, націі, роду, але також кожного з нас. Кожен з нас був Богом сотвореним, ми впали у гріх, ми жили наше життя у грісі, відмовляючись від благодаті, яку Господь Бог послав нам. Але, Бог викупив нас через жертву Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, і дав нам спадщину у Його царстві Христовими Таїнствами.  Отже, ми поклоняємося Його втіленню, щоб мати присвоєння у Його викупленні та успадковувати Його життя у вічному царстві.

 

This is the story of all of us together, as a community, a nation, a race, but also of each one of us. Each of us was created by God, we fell into sin, we lived our life in sin, refusing the grace, which the Lord God sent us. But, God redeemed us through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, and gave us an inheritance in His Kingdom through the Mysteries of Christ. Therefore, we worship His Incarnation, so as to have participation in His redemption and to inherit His life in the everlasting Kingdom.

Нехай роздумаємо над практичним значенням цих трьох речей—втілення, викуплення і вічного життя. Ці три центральні фундаменти нашої віри, і всі три мають дійсні результати, коли ми віруємо в них.  Наприклад, коли ми віруємо у втілення Господа нашого, ми віруємо в Церкву і в Євхаристію, тому що Церква є продовженням воплочення Господа нашого у нашому світі та Євхаристія встановлює Церкву і будує її, тому що, коли ми причащаємося Тіла Господа, ми стаємо більше і більше членами Його Таїнственного Тіла—Церкви. Наш світ має пізнавати Христа, втіленого у нас, або він не буде мати досвід Його взагалі. Це дуже страшна відповідальність вірних християн—тобто, щоб робити Христа присутнім у нашому світі, у наших шоденних випадках.

Let us meditate on the practical meaning of these three things: incarnation, redemption and eternal life. These three things are the central foundations of our faith, and all three have real consequences, when we believe in them.  For example, when we believe in the Incarnation of our Lord, we believe in the Church and in the Eucharist, because the Church is the continuation of the Incarnation of our Lord in our world and the Eucharist constitutes the Church and builds it up, because, when we receive the Body of the Lord, we become more and more members of His Mystical Body, the Church. Our world has to experience Christ, incarnate in us, or it will not experience Him at all.  This is the very awesome responsibility of faithful Christians, namely, to make Christ present in our world, in our everyday circumstances.

Подібним способом, У жертві, яку Господь Бог наш Ісус Христос зробив, Божа справедливість була цілком сповненою, і наші гріхи були тотально прощеними. У жертві хреста, Христос нам приносить всеосяжне викуплення через службу Його таїнственного Тіла, Святої Церкви. Наше спасіння, іншими словами, є ефективним через нашу участь у житті Христовому, як Він продовжує жити у Його Тілі. Це дуже чудове таїнство у всіх відносинах, бо Церква не є тільки єпископа, або священиків, монахів і монахинь, але Церква є всіма нами, маючи інші ролі, а того ж самого Духа. Отже, у нашій поведінці до інших, викуплення Господа нашого має бути присутнім. Інші, наші ближні повинні відчувати Боже прощення і Його любов, коли ми, християни, маємо справи з ними, бо ми відчули любов Бога Отця нашого у Тілі Його Сина, нашого Господа.

In the same way, in the sacrifice, which our Lord and God, Jesus Christ wrought, God’s justice has been fully satisfied, and our sins have been totally forgiven. In the sacrifice of the Cross, Christ offers to us a comprehensive redemption through the ministry of His mystical Body, the Holy Church.  Our salvation, in other words, is affected through our participation in the life of Christ, as He continues to live in His Body.  This is a very wonderful mystery in every way, since the Church is not only the bishop, or the priests, or the monks and nuns, but the Church is all of us, having different roles, but the same Spirit.  Thus, in our behavior towards others, the redemption of our Lord has to be present. Others, our neighbors should feel God’s forgiveness and His love, when we, Christians, have dealings with them, since we have felt the love of God our Father in the Body of His Son, our Lord.

Вічне життя є метою всіх нас людей, навіть якщо ми не знаємо. Кожного дня, ми потребуємо нага́дувати про те, що ми маємо долю. Наша доля є найглибшим бажанням Бога, Створителя неба і землі. Наша доля є тим, щоб стати великим святим, великим Божим героєм. Це є покликанням кожного з нас, і також всіх людей. Ми потребуємо піклуватися іншими людьми, які мають цю дуже велику долю, і допомагати всім навколо нас, щоб реалізувати це покликання.

Eternal life is the goal of all of us human beings, even if we do not know it. Every day, we need to remind ourselves that we have a destiny. Our destiny is the deepest desire of God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Our destiny is to become a great saint, a great hero of God. This is the vocation of each of us, and also of all people. We need to care for others as human beings, who have this very great destiny, and help all those around us to realize this calling.
