CONSECRATION FOR CATECHESIS: Holy Hieromartyr Alexander, Bishop of Comana

St, Alexander is a good reminder to us that we are never to judge by externals. Alexander looked like a poor man, a coal-burner, but he was a highly educated man, learned in the Scriptures, and very advanced in personal holiness.

It is an important principle that we treat all the same, showing the same love for the sake of Christ, treating all others as Christ. It is according to this principle that St. James strongly condemns distinction of persons in his epistle. Christians are called to love all people unconditionally and equally. This is the charity Christ commanded in the Sermon on the Mount. (CCC 1934-5)
