CONSECRATION FOR CATECHESIS: (Bible) 1 Kings 14

God chastises nations that disobey His commandments (established as they are for their good) with foreign invasion, loss of national treasures and wealth. According to the wisdom of God, sometimes the condition is permanent, even if the people repent.

The sins of the people are recorded here as being a transfer of allegiance from the True God to the idols of the nations that preside over the high places and groves. Nevertheless, at least in the Hebrew, this rejection of God leads to sexual depravity. This same progression is observable in St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans. The appearance and acceptance of sodomy and other sexual deviations is a sign and symptom the devolution of a society into idolatry (CCC 2114), because idolatry begins this disintegration.
