Обмін речами цього світу на Царство Небесне Trading the things of this world for the Heavenly Kingdom

 

Сьогодні в Євангельському читанні ми почули потужний заклик Господа Ісуса взяти свій хрест і йти за Ним. Він обіцяє нам, що якщо ми збережемо своє життя, ми втратимо своє життя, але якщо ми віддамо своє життя заради Нього, то отримаємо вічне життя в Царстві Небесному.

Today in the Gospel reading we heard the powerful exhortation of the Lord Jesus to take up our crosses and follow Him. He promises us that if we save our lives, we will lose our lives, but if we give up our lives for His sake, we will gain an everlasting life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Коли ми дивимося на природу навколо себе, ми можемо побачити там великий достаток, призначений для нашої підтримки та служіння. Подивіться на надлишкову кількість насіння в кожному природному фрукті. Нам достатньо лише поглянути на гранат, щоб усвідомити величезне, невичерпне благословення, яке Бог дав людському роду. Це, безперечно, причина, чому той самий плід також є символом Божих духовних благодатей. Ми бачимо, що в старозавітні часи орнаменти гранатом прикрашали одяг Первосвященика.

When we look around us at nature, we can see there a great abundance that is intended for our support and service. Look at the superabundant number of seeds that every natural fruit has. We need only look at the pomegranate to realize the tremendous, inexhaustible blessing that God has given to the human race. This is surely the reason why the same fruit is also a symbol of God's spiritual graces. We see that in Old Testament times pomegranate designs adorned the vestments of the High Priest.

Проте, якою б великою не здавалася надлишок цього мінливого, тимчасового світу, схильного до розпаду, ми повинні розуміти, що він незначний у порівнянні з надлишком Божого Царства. Про це говорить нам Христос Господь. Немає нікого, хто відмовиться від батька, матері, родини, друзів, майна, землі тощо заради Христа, хто не пожне стократно більше в Царстві Небесному. Багатство природи може здаватися великим, але багатство Царства у стократ більше.

Yet, as great as the abundance of this changing, temporary world, subject to decay, appears, we must understand that it is negligible compared to the abundance of God's Kingdom. Christ the Lord tells us this. There is no one who gives up father, mother, family, friends, possessions, lands, etc. for Christ's sake, who will not reap a hundredfold the amount in the Heavenly Kingdom. The abundance of nature may seem great, but the abundance of the Kingdom is a hundredfold more.

Зверніть увагу на зображення, яке нам пропонують. Достаток світу дається нам для торгівлі. В інших місцях Євангелія нас закликають бути подібними до мудрих торговців. Господь зображує Себе як людину, Яка дарує Своїм слугам певне майно, наказуючи їм: «Торгуйте ними, доки Я не прийду». Подібним чином і нас закликають вважати себе подібними до торговців прекрасними перлами. Знайшовши найбільший екземпляр, який ми коли-небудь бачили, ми йдемо, продаємо все, що маємо, щоб купити цю перлину. Обмін менших і тимчасових цінностей на більш цінні, постійні речі в інших місцях описується як спроба протиснутися крізь вузькі двері - звичайно, неприємно, але врешті-решт варто зусиль.

Notice the image that is being offered to us. The abundance of the world is being given to us to trade. In other places in the Gospels we are exhorted to be like wise merchants. The Lord depicts Himself as a man, Who grants His servants certain assets, commanding them, "Trade with these until I come." In a similar way, we are exhorted to consider ourselves to be like merchants in fine pearls. Finding the greatest specimen we have ever seen, we go, sell everything that we have, in order to purchase that pearl. Trading lesser and transitory valuables for more valuable, permanent things is, in other places, described with the image of trying to squeeze through a narrow door-- certainly not pleasant, but ultimately worth the effort.

По-справжньому мудрі торговці завжди повинні бути обережними, щоб їх не обдурили і не схилили на свій бік обіцянки, які їм пропонують щодо нижчих, світських товарів. Світ, у якому ми живемо, дуже вміє давати всілякі незвичайні обіцянки, це не природа і творіння, створені Богом, а суспільство людей, яким керують пристрасті та підкоряються своїм господарям, демонам. По суті, все в цьому світі вкрите тонким шаром, який виглядає як постійність, намагаючись змусити нас думати, що те, що нам продають, справді дорогоцінне, хоча насправді це не дорожче гною у порівнянні з Царством Божим. Однак Бог у величі Своєї щедрості дозволяє нам обмінювати низинні й недорогоцінні речі цього світу на те, що є надзвичайно цінним. Таким чином, речі цього світу по відношенню до цього світу видаються цінними, хоча насправді ними не є. Цінність не в речах; це в Божій щедрості. Речі цього світу — це визначена валюта, яку Бог інвестує з ціною для придбання вічних благ, тому що Він добрий і хоче, щоб ми любили Його.

The truly wise merchants always have to be careful that they are not fooled and won over by the promises offered to them concerning inferior, worldly products. The world in which we live is very good at making all kinds of outlandish promises, not indeed the nature and creation that God has made, but the society of human beings, ruled by the passions and subjected to their masters, the demons. Basically, everything in this world is coated with a thin layer that looks like permanence, in an attempt to trick us into thinking that what is being sold to us is truly precious, when, in reality, it is no more precious than dung in comparison with the Kingdom of God. God, however, in the greatness of His generosity allows us to trade the base and non-precious things of this world for what is superlatively valuable. Thus, the things of this world, in relation to this world, appear to be valuable, when, in reality, they are not. The value is not in the things; it is in God's generosity. The things of this world are a fiat currency that God invests with value to purchase everlasting good things, because He is good, and He wants us to love Him.

Для торгівлі необхідна відстороненість від речей. Людина, яка занадто прив'язана до своїх грошей, ніколи не зробить інвестиції. Так само ми повинні бути відсторонені від світових речей, щоб відмовитися від них в обмін на речі Царства Божого. Ми завжди маємо фундаментальний вибір: ми можемо мати речі цього світу і те, що обіцяє світ, або ми можемо мати Божі обітниці та Його Царство. Ми не можемо мати обидва. Жертва одного необхідна для користі іншого. Жертва — ще один термін для торгівлі.

Detachment from things is necessary for trading. The man who is too attached to his money will never make an investment. In just the same way, we have to be detached from worldly things, in order to give them up in exchange for the things of the Kingdom of God. We always have a fundamental choice, we can have the things of this world and what the world promises, or we can have God's promises and His Kingdom. We cannot have both. The sacrifice of one is necessary for the gain of the other. Sacrifice is another term for trading.

Страждання необхідні, тому що відсторонення - це боляче. Позбавлення себе речей цього світу, щоб придбати речі світу майбутнього, може бути дуже незручним. Ми завжди повинні підходити до страждань у нашому житті з очима віри, а не відповідно до видимості світу. Бог дав нам нашу віру, а разом з нею Він дав нам достатньо доказів, щоб обґрунтувати нашу віру. Очима віри ми можемо сприймати обидві сторони угоди, яка прирівнюється до нашого спадку в Царстві Небесному. Так, ми бачимо болісну виплату, першу плату за земні речі, як матеріальні, так і абстрактні, але ми також бачимо власність, яку купують у майбутньому віці. Вірою ми можемо стверджувати, що останнє краще. Як сказав Господь Ісус, «ніхто, хто пив старе вино, не бажає нового, але якщо йому пропонують нове вино, він каже: «Ні, дякую, старе краще». Наша спадщина в Небесному Царстві – це старе вино, бо це присутність Бога, Який від вічності.

Suffering is necessary, because detachment is painful. Divesting ourselves of the things of this world, in order to purchase the things of the world to come can be deeply uncomfortable. We always have to approach suffering in our lives with the eyes of faith, not according to the appearances of the world. God has given to us our faith and, along with it, He has given to us sufficient proofs to ground our faith. With the eyes of faith, we are able to perceive both sides of the transaction, which equates to our inheritance in the Heavenly Kingdom. Yes, we see a painful payout, a down payment of earthly things both material and abstract, but we also see the property that is being purchased in the age to come. By faith we are able to assay that the latter is better. As the Lord Jesus puts it, "no one who has drunk old wine desires new, but if he is offered new wine, he says, 'No, thank you; the old is better." Our inheritance in the Heavenly Kingdom is the old wine, because it is the presence of God, Who is from all eternity.
