МУДРІСТЬ СВЯТОГО ЙОСИФА: СПАСІННЯ ЧЕРЕЗ ЧЛЕНСТВО ЦЕРКВИ THE PRUDENCE OF SAINT JOSEPH: SALVATION THROUGH MEMBERSHIP IN THE CHURCH

Святий Йосиф є моделлю чесноти мудрости. Мудрість є чеснотою, яка допомагає нам, щоб вирішити відповідальну дію у специфічних випадках. Святий Йосиф шукав керування Бога у молитві, і Бог відповідав йому, говорячи з ним часто у сні так, як Бог також підтримав Йосифа Старого Завіту, сина Якова, який став моделлю мудрости у його служіннi Фараонові, цареві єгипетському.

Matthew 2:11-23 St. Joseph is a model of the virtue of prudence. Prudence is the virtue that helps us determine the appropriate action in particular circumstances. St. Joseph was one who sought the guidance of God in prayer, and God answered him by speaking to him often in dreams, just as God had also dealt with his namesake, the Old Testament Joseph, the son of Jacob, who had become such a model of prudence in his service to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.

Книга Приповідок нам каже-- "початок мудрости є страхом Божим." Це означає, що мудрість є народженою з нами, коли ми цілком залежні від Бога, і ми маємо повне довір'я того, що Його діла у нашому житті є на добро. Звичайна тема цілої книги Псалмів є цим довір'ям Бога, що є причиною того, що ця книга має дуже великий сплив на церковне життя. Псалтир є книгою у Біблії, яку ми найбільше вживаємо дня на день, тому що вона навчає нам про фундаментальну спорідненість, яку ми повинні мати з Богом, Який є Всезнаний і Вселюблячий і чинить все згідно його співчуття.  Ми не повинні думати, що ми будемо завжди розуміти все, що Він робить у нашому житті. З цієї причини, фундамент нашої мудрости є довір'ям або вірою, і очікуванням, яке ми маємо, коли ми будемо приймати Його обіцянки, що їх ми називаємо надією.

The book of Proverbs tells us that "the beginning of prudence is the fear of the Lord." This means that prudence is born in us through a complete reliance on God, a total trust that His actions in our lives are for the best. The common theme of the entire Psalter is this trust in God, and this is the reason why the Book of Psalms plays such a prominent role in the life of the Church.  The Psalter is the book in the Bible, which is used the most often from day to day by us, because it teaches us the fundamental relationship that we should have with God, Who is all-knowing and all-loving, and Who orders everything towards his compassionate purposes. We should not expect to understand everything that He is doing in our lives. For this reason, the basis of our prudence is called TRUST or FAITH, and the expectation we have of receiving from God that which He promises is called HOPE.

Практично, як ми живемо згідно чесноти мудрости? 1) Ми приносимо все у нашому житті перед Богом у молитві. 2) Ми слухаємо уважно Його поради у духовному читанні, у Церкві і у внутрішніх надхненнях, які Він нам посилає під час нашого роздумування і нашої молитви.  3) Ми робимо приниженим і смиренним шляхом, який показує нашу залежність від Бога.

 

In practical terms, how do we live our lives according to the virtue of prudence? 1) We take everything in our lives before God in prayer. 2) We listen attentively to His counsel in spiritual reading, in the Church and in interior inspirations, which are sent to us at the time of our meditation and prayer.  3) we act in a modest, meek and humble way that shows our reliance on God.

Щоб бути мудрими згідно прикладу Святого Йосифа (і також Йосифа Старого Завіту), ми мусимо мати правдиві пріоритети, і ми мусимо направити нашу енергію до того, що є дійсно найважливішим. Що є найважливішим? Спасіння. Як приймати спасіння? Будучи у Христі; будучи частиною Тіла Христового; Будучи членом Святої Церкви. Ми є частиною Тіла Христового аж до кінця, поки ми беремо участь у церковному житті. Перший і найвідоміший шлях, яким ми беремо участь у церковному житті, є тим, щоб брати участь у її таїнствах і богослужінні. Проте, нам не треба бути фізично у храмі, щоб бути з'єднаними з Церквою. Ми можемо входити в спілкування з Церквою різними шляхами-- молячись псалми вдома вранці та увечері, щоденно читаючи духовну літературу, молячись іншими молитвами і богослужіннями, які Церква виставляла, молячись Ісусовою Молитвою протягом цілого дня, і роблячи добросердечні діла в імені Церкви і для добра Церкви. Ми не можемо бути дійсно залежними від Бога без того, щоб бути живими членами Його Тіла.

 In order to be truly prudent, after the example of Joseph (and his namesake), we have to make sure that our priorities are correct, and that our energies are directed towards what is truly the most important thing. What is the most important thing? Salvation. How is salvation achieved? By being in Christ; by being a part of the Body of Christ; by being a member of the Church. We are part of the Body of Christ to the extent that we take part in the life of the Church. The first and most obvious way to take part in the life of the Church is to participate in her sacraments and services. However, we do not need to be physically in the Church in order to join ourselves to the Church. We can enter into communion with the Church by various means: praying the Psalms at home at morning and evening, doing our daily spiritual reading, making use of other prayers and devotions approved by the Church, praying the Jesus Prayer throughout the day, and doing acts of kindness in the name of the Church and for the good of the Church. We cannot really rely on God without being a living, breathing member of His Body.
