ЗЕРНА НАШОЇ ДУХОВНОЇ ПРАКТИКИ THE SEEDS OF OUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

 

Брати й сестри у Христі—

Зерно́ є дуже важливим символом у історії Божого виявлення до нас, і ми мусимо розуміти цей символ у кількох інших способах. Перш за все, нам треба розуміти те, що зерно і сі́м’я є тими самими речами. Коли Господь Авраамові каже, що його сі́м’я буде як зіро́к на небі, Він використовує образ зе́рен, які розділюються, і у цьому контексті, сі́м’я означає покоління. В той самий спосіб, коли Господь Ісус використовує образ зерна́, Він уживає його як ілюстрацію Свого страждання, смерті і воскресіння так, як ми бачимо у Євангелії від Святого Йоана. Там, Господь Ісус каже про пшеницю, особливий сорт зерна, яке Він промовляє бути безплідним до часу, до поки воно па́дає в зе́млю і вмирає. Коли воно вмирає, воно продукує багато плодів. Цей образ, який Він вибирає, щоб описувати Його велику працю ви́куплення людського роду. Згідно цього опису, Його життя є зерном. Йому треба вмирати, щоб стати плодоносним. Він входить в землю насамоті, коли Він видає́ Його життя, а коли Він піднімається із землі, Він приймає царство цілого людського роду. 

Seed is a very important symbol in the history of God’s revelation to us, and we must understand this symbol in several different ways.  When the Lord says to Abraham that his seed will be like the stars of heaven, He uses the image of seeds, which are scattered, and, in this context, the seed means generations.  In the same way, when the Lord Jesus uses the image of seed, He uses it as an illustration of his suffering, death and resurrection, just as we see in the Gospel according to St. John. There, the Lord Jesus speaks concerning the wheat, a particular sort of seed, which He proclaims to be fruitless until that time, when it falls into the earth and dies. When it dies, it produces much fruit.  This is the image, which He chooses to describe His great work of redemption for the human race. According to this description, His life is a seed. He needs to die in order to become fruitful.  He enters into the earth alone, when He lays down His life, but when He rises from the earth, He receives the Kingdom of the entire human race.

Зерно є також дуже важливим у індивідуальному християнському житті, тому що, згідно слів притчі у сьогоднішньому євангельському читанні, Слово Боже є як зерно, Яке приходить до нас, щоб стати плодоносним. Це опис Божого Слова як благодать. Ми знаємо, що кожна благодать не плідна, але тільки благодать, яку ми приймаємо. Ми маємо силу, щоб приймати або відкинути благодать, яку Бог посилає нам. Це дуже страшна сила, тому що від моменту до моменту, ми можливо не розуміємо безліч причин, яка дає мотив нашим ділам. Тією причиною, ми маємо обов’язок екзаменувати наші сумління часто і повно, і, тим способом, керувати нашим розумом так просто, як можливо. Якщо ми дозволимо нашому внутрішньому життю, щоб стати складним, ми будемо губити нашу можливість, щоб пізнавати благодать, яку Господь бажає нам посилати для нашого спасіння. Наша здатність приймати благодать є залежною від нашої здатности пізнавати благодать. Щоб пізнавати Господню благодать, ми мусимо мати ясний розум, тихий і спокійний. 

Seed is also very important in the individual Christian life, because, according to the words of the parable in today’s Gospel reading, the Word of God is like a seed, which comes to us to become fruitful. This is the description of Word of God as grace.  We know that every grace is not fruitful, but only the grace which we receive.  We have the power to accept or reject the grace, which the Lord sends us.  This is a very awesome power, because from moment to moment, we perhaps do not understand the multitude of reasons, which motivate our deeds.  For the same reason, we have an obligation to examine our consciences often and fully, and, in this way, to maintain our minds as simply as possibly. If we allow our interior life to become complicated, we will lose our ability to recognize the grace, which the Lord wants to send to us for our salvation.  Our ability to accept grace is contingent on our ability to recognize grace. To recognize the Lord’s grace, we must have a clear mind, tranquil and peaceful.

Господня благодать не завжди виявляється тим способом, якого ми очікуємо. Фактично, часто добро, якому Господь вирі́шує працювати у нашому житті, буде виявлятися протилежним до нашого очікування. З тієї причини, нам треба бути готовими молитвою і роздумуванням, щоб пізнавати чужі але чудові Божі шляхи.  Отже, молитва і роздумування є зе́рнами також. Вони є зернами, які ми мусимо ви́ростити у наших серцях. Ці зе́рна, які є найменшими всіх зерен, а вони виростають, щоб стати найбільшими деревцями.  Тим самим способом, наше вирішення, щоб залишитися у Його присутності під час нашого періоду молитви, і зосереджуватися на Його присутності—це зерно, яке може вирости до найбільшого деревця. Кожен з нас потребує мати спеціальне місце у своєму серці, де ми можемо познайомитися з Господом регулярно, і в якому наші відносини можуть вироста́ти секретно, бо Господь постійно покличе Його учнів, щоб залишити міста́ і села заради пустельного місця молитви. Звісно, можна створити це пустельне місце у нас, у серці—найглибшому місці нашої істоти. Найменше зерно буде виростати до найбільшого деревця; наше ви́рішення дати період часу молитві й роздумуванню буде мати вплив у цілому нашому житті.  Наша здатність з’єднатися Богові з нашими намірами буде збі́льшуватись, не тільки під час нашого періоду молитви, а під час наших всіх діл.

The Lord’s grace does not always appear in the way we expect.  Actually, often the good, which the Lord decides to work in our life will be the opposite to our expectation. For this reason, we need to be prepared by prayer and meditation to recognize the strange but wonderful ways of God.  Therefore, prayer and meditation are themselves seeds. They are the seeds, which we must plant in our hearts. These are the seeds, which are the smallest of all seeds, but they grow up to become the largest of shrubs.  In the same way, our decision to remain in His presence during our time of prayer, and to concentrate on His presence is a seed, which is able to grow up to the very largest shrub.  Each of us needs to have a special place in our heart, where we can meet the Lord regularly, and in which our relationship can grow secretly, since the Lord constantly summons His disciples to leave the cities and towns for a deserted place on account of prayer.  Well, we can create this deserted place in ourselves, in the heart—the very deepest place of our being. The very smallest of seeds will grow to the very largest of shrubs; our decision to give a period of time to prayer and meditation will influence our whole life. Our ability to be united to God by our intentions will increase, not only during our period of prayer, but during all our actions.
