МОВЧАННЯ ПЕРЕД ХРЕСТОМ SILENCE BEFORE THE CROSS

 У гімнах празника Воздвиження Святого Хреста, хрест називається зброєю, зціленням, і ліком. Ми можемо думати про таїнство хреста згідно всіх цих ілюстрацій, тому що Христос прийшов, щоб знищити твори диявола. Фактично, всі ці описи таїнства Святого Хреста виражають ту саму ідею. Сім таїнств Христових нам дають присвоєння у хресті, тобто стражданні, смерті і воскресінні. Христова перемога є цілою і перфектною, але ми мусимо вирішувати те, якщо ми будемо слідувати за Христом, або залишимося у ілюзіях демонів.

In the hymns of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the cross is called weapon, healing and remedy. We can think about the mystery of the cross according to all these images, because Christ came to destroy the works of the devil.  Actually, all these descriptions of the mystery of the Holy Cross express this same idea. The seven sacraments of Christ give us a share in the cross, that is, in the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ. Christ’s victory is complete and perfect, but we must decide if we will follow Christ or remain in the illusions of the demons.

Ми, у цій культурі, є дуже незвіданими діяння диявола. Сучасна наука часто має цей ефект, тобто, ми не довго віримо в те, що наші чуття не можуть сприймати, і тож ми ігноруємо існування духовного світу, незважаючи на те, що ми часто бачимо багато ефектів від діяння цього духовного світу, особливо у нашому внутрішньому житті. Це дуже небезпечно, коли ми ігноруємо існування цього світу, тому що духовні істоти постійно роблять для нашого знищення через пропозиції, відчуття, і думки, які вони посилають у наші розуми. Наше невідання ефективно творить різні шляхи, якими демони мають доступ до наших розумів, і ці шляхи залишаються відкритими, тому що ми не уважні до наших думок.

We, in this culture, are very ignorant of the actions of the devil. Modern science often has this effect on us, that we no longer believe in that, which our senses cannot perceive, and so we ignore the existence of the spiritual world, despite the fact that we often see a lot of effects from the actions of this spiritual world, especially in our interior life. It is very dangerous for us to ignore the existence of this world, because spiritual beings constantly work towards our destruction through suggestions, feelings, and thoughts, which they send into our minds.  Our ignorance effectively creates various pathways, by which demons have access to our minds, and these pathways remain open, because we are not attentive to our thoughts.

У сучасній культурі, один первинний шлях, яким демони мають доступ до нашого розуму є через вживання наших електричних при́строїв. Ці при́строї, хоча добрі у собі, є часто інструментами розсіювання психічної енергії та уважности, щоб ми не довго могли зосереджуватися на специфічних речах послідовно, але наша увага постійно рухається від однієї речі до іншої. У цьому стані, ми часто не можемо терпіти мовчання, і отож, молитва стає тяжко́ю або навіть неможливою. Проблема є очевидною. Молитва є життям душі.

In modern culture, one of the primary ways that the demons have access to our minds is through the use of our electronic devices. These devices, although good in themselves, are often the instruments of a dissipation of mental energy and attentiveness, so that we can no longer concentrate on specific things consistently, but our attention continuously moves from one thing to another. In this state, we often cannot endure silence, and, therefore, prayer becomes difficult or even impossible.

Подібним способом, музика стала шляхом демонського доступу також. Через ритм де́якої музики, пристрасті є викликаними, які приведуть до збільшення спокус, особливо хтивости і гніву. Часто музика не зла у собі (хоча багато популярної музики має злі лиріки, які заохочують гріх), але ми слухаємо надмірно часто. Для наших предків, музика була спеціальною і присвяченою для святкових або урочистих нагод. Тепер, вона наповнює наше ціле життя, створюючи ту саму ненависть мовчання, яка знеохочує молитву і правдивий мир. Бог завжди дає честь для нашої свобідної волі. Ми не можемо слухати Бога, якщо ми завжди слухаємо голос цього світу. Тимчасом, наші пристрасті виростуть більші і більші, аж допоки ми не можемо відмовляти їм.

In a similar way, music has become a pathway of demonic access as well. Through the rhythm of music, the passions are aroused, which lead to an increase of temptations, especially those to lust and anger. Often, the music is not evil in itself (although a lot of popular music has evil lyrics, which encourage sin), but we listen to it too often. For our ancestors, music was special and dedicated for festive and solemn occasions. Now, it fills our entire life, creating that same hatred for silence that discourages prayer and true peace.  God always honors our free will. We cannot listen to God if we are always listening to the voice of this world. Meanwhile, our passions grow up bigger and bigger, until we cannot refuse them.

Кожного дня, ми потребуємо стояти перед хрестом у молитві й мовчанні. Кожен з нас повинен мати період мовчання, щоб зосереджуватися на Бозі нашому Отці, без розсіювання світових речей, особливо тих, що заохочують пристрасті.

Each day, we need to stand before the cross in prayer and silence. Each of us should have a period of silence to concentrate on God our Father, without the distraction of worldly things, especially those that encourage the passions.
