Нам не слід залишати без уваги кінцеві цілі демонів у нашому житті. У цьому євангельському читанні ми чули, що демон часто кидає одержимого хлопчика у вогонь і воду, намагаючись його знищити. Звичайно, в найпростішому сенсі демони завжди прагнуть нас знищити. Ми говорили про те, що духовний сенс уривка про вогонь і воду показує нам запальні́ й пожадливі пристрасті, які тя́гнуть нас до гріха або через гнів, або через насолоду. Проте демонічний план проти нас набагато складніший, і ми повинні витратити деякий час на його роздуми.

We should not be ignorant of the ultimate aims of the demons in our lives. In this Gospel reading, we heard that the demon frequently throws the possessed boy into fire and into water trying to destroy him. Of course, in the simplest sense, the demons are always aiming to destroy us. We have talked about the fact that the spiritual sense of the passage concerning the fire and the water shows to us the irascible and concupiscible passions that draw us towards sin either through anger or through pleasure. However, the demonic plan against us is far more intricate and we must spend some time meditating on the whole of it.

First of all, we should begin by saying that the ultimate aim of the demonic conspiracy against us is to drive us to murder and suicide, spiritually, and, if possible, physically. In other words, the purpose of the demons is to drive mankind towards a situation of final impenitence, in which we physically die in sin without repentance. In the meantime, as they try to channel each and every one of us towards that goal, they will also try to make us instruments in the destruction of others through spiritual murder (leading others into serious sin), and, in possible, make us the instruments of the physical destruction of others as well. Their plan for us is simple, and yet cunning and intricate in its execution.

Подібно до того, як ми можемо спостерігати ці зразки в історії Божого святого народу, яка відкривається нам на сторінках Біблії, ми також можемо побачити ті самі зразки, що відтворюються в історії людства. Багато хто вважає, що історія людства наближається до кінця через величезні потрясіння, які ми спостерігаємо навколо себе як у природі, так і в культурі. Вони можуть не помилятися. Посвячення Росії Непорочному Серцю Марії минулої п’ятниці, у свято Благовіщення Пресвятої Богородиці, нагадує нам про явно демонічне походження марксистської ідеології. Це антилюдська система, тому що в її основі лежить заздрість і ненависть, і вона спрямовує всіх людей, які опиняться в її сітях, до того самого знищення у вбивствах і самогубствах. Добре задокументовано той факт, що, незважаючи на те, що діалектичний матеріалізм є офіційно атеїстичним рухом, його засновником і основним автором був не атеїст, а сатаніст, весь поетичний корпус якого зосереджений на уя́вленні про помсту своєму Творцю. Протягом усього свого дорослого життя Маркс часто медитував, знову і знову повторюючи слова́ демонів Мефістофеля з «Доктора Фауста» Гете: «Все, що існує, заслуговує на знищення».

Just as we can observe these patterns in the history of God's holy people, which is revealed to us in the pages of the Bible, we can also see the same patterns played out in human history. Many believe that human history is coming to an end, because of the tremendous upheavals that we observe around us both in nature and in culture. They may not be wrong. The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary last Friday, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God, reminds us of the manifestly demonic origin of the Marxist ideology. It is an anti-human system, because it has its basis in envy and hatred, and funnels all the human beings caught up in its nets towards that same destruction in murder and suicide. The fact is well-documented that, even though the dialectical materialism is an officially atheist movement, its founder and primary author was not an atheist, but a Satanist, whose whole corpus of poetry is centered on the notion of taking vengeance on his Creator. Throughout his adult life, Marx would often meditate, repeating again and again the words of demons Mephistopheles from Goethe's Doctor Faustus, "Everything that exists deserves destruction." 

Оскільки людський розум любить послідовність і логіку, ми можемо легко стати запаморочливо дезорієнтованими через очевидну непослідовність тієї ж ідеології, яка, наприклад, відля́кувала і карала гомосексуалізм у Радянському Союзі, але заохочує та прославляє його в краї́нах сучасного Заходу. Проблема в тому, що послідовність шукають не в тому місці. Заздрість і ненависть в обох прикладах є послідовними, хоча деталі політики непослідовні, тому що ідеологія, будучи антилюдською, постійно шукає клин, щоб розділити людей один проти одного, щоб вони знищили один одного.

Because the human mind loves consistency and logic, we can easily become dizzyingly disoriented by the apparent inconsistency of the same ideology that, for example, discouraged and punished homosexuality in the Soviet Union, but encourages and glorifies it in the countries of the contemporary West. The problem is that the consistency is being sought in the wrong place. The envy and hatred in both examples are consistent, even though the details of policy are inconsistent, because the ideology, being anti-human, is constantly seeking a wedge to divide human beings against one another, so that they will destroy one another.

Sins that Involve the Degradation of Human Nature Are Aimed at Inducing Hatred of Self and Others

Демонічні сили у Всесвіті дуже часто прагнуть розпалити найнижчі інстинкти та бажання людей. Таким чином, деградація, яка пов’язана з підкоренням цього бажання, призведе до ненависті до себе та інших, які є співучасниками тих самих принизливих дій. Прикладів цього в сучасній культурі багато. Молодий чоловік, який з часом переконується через постійні й послідовні демонічні навіювання, що він насправді жінка, змушений тим самим демонічним навіюванням все більше і більше відповідати цьому ментальному образу у фізичній сфері. Він приймає одяг і звички жінки. Він приймає гормональну терапію, щоб змінити хімічний склад свого тіла, щоб воно розвивало жіночі риси. Нарешті, він може вирішити понівечити себе, щоб його тіло було схоже на тіло жінки. Проте, коли нічого з цього не веде до миру та самоприйняття, ані прийняття з боку оточуючих, демонам легко переконати його покінчити життя самогубством. Подібним чином інший молодий чоловік, який став залежним від використання інтернет-порнографії, починає зневажати себе через свою слабкість і зневажати жінок, яких він вважає своїми спокусницями. Звідти демони будуть лише прагнути поступово, повільно, якщо необхідно, посилювати деградацію свого стану все більш і більш руйнівни́ми звичками, на які з часом йому буде все легше і легше погодитися.

The demonic forces in the universe very frequently seek to inflame the basest instincts and desires in human beings. Thus, the degradation that is involved in succumbing to those desires will lead to hatred of oneself and others, who are accomplices in the same degrading acts. Examples of this in contemporary culture are multiplied. A young man, who is convinced over time by constant and consistent demonic suggestion that he is actually a woman is driven by the same demonic suggestion to conform to that mental image more and more in the physical realm. He adopts the garments and habits of a female. He takes hormone therapy to change his body's chemistry, so that it will develop feminine characteristics. Finally, he may decide to have himself mutilated, so that his body will resemble a female's. Yet, when none of this leads to peace and self-acceptance, nor acceptance from those around him, the demons easily convince him to commit suicide. In a similar way, a different young man, who has become addicted to the use of internet pornography, begins to despise himself for his weakness and to despise the women, whom he sees as his tempters. From there, the demons will only seek to increase by degrees, slowly if necessary, the degradation of his state by more and more destructive habits, to which it will become easier and easier for him to consent over time. 

Такої ж природи є залежність від наркотиків і а́лкоголю, а також розлади харчово́ї поведінки. Вони починаються і підтримуються демонічним навіюванням. Вони спрямовані на деградацію людської природи, щоб людина ненавиділа себе та інших і, оптимально, покінчила життя самогубством.

Addictions to drugs and alcohol, as well as eating disorders, are of the same nature. They are begun and sustained by demonic suggestion. They are aimed at the degradation of human nature, so that the human being will hate himself and others and, optimally, commit suicide.

Be On Guard Against Demonic Suggestion

Ми повинні остерігатися демонічного навіювання не тільки в собі, а й у тих, хто нас оточує. Коли ми бачимо, що інші страждають від ударів цього навіювання, ми повинні прагнути їм допомогти. Заздрість і ненависть завжди є озна́ками цієї діяльності.

We must be on guard against demonic suggestion not just in ourselves but in those around us. When we see others suffering under the blows of this suggestion, we must seek to help them. Envy and hatred are always signs of that activity.

Ті, хто страждає під владою демонічного обману, повинні мати місце в наших щоденних молитвах. Таким же чином ми повинні прагнути звільнитися від демонічного впливу через молитву, використання святої води та святих предметів і читання Біблії. Ми повинні вихо́вувати в собі справжню, довірливу і люблячу відданість Пресвятій Богородиці, бо Бог дав їй безмежну силу в сфері благодаті, щоб принизити ворогів Божих і вигнати їх. Ось чому старослов’янський текст Гімну Акафіста у вступно́му Кондаку згадує її словом Воєвода. Ви більше ніде не знайдете це, зазвичай, чоловіче слово, вживане для жінки.

Those who are suffering under the power of demonic deception should have a place in our daily prayers. In the same way, we should seek to liberate ourselves from demonic influence through prayer, the use of holy water and holy objects and the reading of the Bible. We should cultivate within ourselves a real, trusting and loving devotion to the Most Holy Mother of God, because God has given her infinite power in the realm of grace to humiliate the enemies of God and put them to flight. This is the reason why the Old Slavonic text of the Akafist Hymn, in the opening Kontakion, refers to her with the word Voyevoda (Warlord). You will not find this usually masculine word being used of a woman anywhere else.
